Sept 1902 April 1902.
I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 11th August No 32067/1902 transmitting to us a copy of a letter addressed by the Director of Public Works to the Colonial Secretary, Hong Kong, forwarding a copy of a letter from Messrs Denison, Ram & Gibbs suggesting cer- tein modifications in the scheme for the provision of the new water-works at Kowloon.
2. Mr Chadwick has had an opportunity of considering these papers and I enclose, for the information of Mr Secre- tary Chamberlain, a copy of his reply.
3.
It will be seen that Mr Chadwick is of the opinion that both the gauges and the Fischer plates referred to should eventually be adopted.
4. I would suggest that the Colonial Government should be instructed to furnish the plans desired by Mr Chadwick in
the last paragraph of his letter.
I have the honour to be,
Under Secretary of State.
